I’m leaving for treatment on Thursday to Denton, TX. The place is run by S.A.F.E which has been amazing and treated me wonderful. Self mutilation is an addiction which i have delt with for 5 years. I was very ready to go and then all of a sudden I cant go i dont know why i cant.
I even cut a few times…And its not like this place is a state hospital its a 50,000 treatment center thats very nice with a lot of freedom.
I think i might be afraid of getting better whys that??
Anyone with advice on getting back on track please write!
Again dont take this as attention wanting if you dont have real advice please dont write.

Chelsea I think you are afraid you won’t have any coping skills to replace the cutting. Cutting for you is a release, right? After you cut you feel better. Maybe you are afraid of losing that control and ability to make yourself feel better. Just give it a chance–you never know, they may be able to help you find something that makes you feel better without leaving permanent scars on your body.

For sometimes now, you have been using cutting to deal with stress, so much that it is now a part of your life.
I know that it is not attention seeking. I have many clients who do cut themselves.
you say that you are afraid of getting better. What it is, is not knowing what will replace the cutting when you no lnger need to do it?
I know of S.A.F.E. I have worked with them mainly in Australia (not in the UK). They are a well organised and professional organisation, and can offer you good treatment and advice.
You have already overcome the main hurdle in accessing the treatment, for which you should be proud of, the next step is going there. Yes, it’s hard at first, but I can assure you that once you get there, you will feel at ease.
You will begin to change your life, and be able to replace the cutting with something else that you will enjoy.
cutting is like an addictive drug. you just can’t stop it, but need to be weaned off it. Trust in them. They are the best team for you to go to.
I would certainly not recommend any organisation that I was not happy with, so you can rest assured that S.A.F.E. are well recommended.
